Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 200g chicken breast, diced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup biryani masala
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water

Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute.
  • Add diced chicken and cook until no longer pink.
  • Mix in yogurt and biryani masala, cooking for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add rinsed basmati rice and water, season with salt, and bring to a boil.
  • Cover and reduce heat to low, cooking for 10 minutes or until rice is tender.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  • Fluff the biryani with a fork and garnish with chopped cilantro and mint before serving.
